We did a little more work on the cabinet last weekend. We finished installing the full-extension drawer glides (and they work), and we put one of the drawer faces on.
Since ours is a European style cabinet, the drawer faces are flush with the front of the cabinet.
For that reason, we decided to leave the faces off until the drawer was installed... so that we could shave down the face, and it would fit exactly into the space.
We shaved it down using an inexpensive (read: somewhat less-than-perfect) block plane. It's sort of hard to use.
We'd like a nicer (read: more expensive) one, but for now, the one we have is (mostly) working. Next we'll shave down the remaining 3 drawer faces and secure them to the drawer boxes.
Remaining steps in this project:
(1) Route the edges of the facade apothecary drawer fronts and apply stain.
(2) Secure the facade apothecary drawer fronts to the drawer faces.
(3) Install drawer pulls.
(4) Obtain cabinet hinges.
(5) Cut the cabinet doors, stain, and install them with hinges.
(6) Install cabinet pulls.
(7) Apply oak facing to raw edges of plywood and stain.
(8) Sand, apply varnish, sand, apply varnish.
Looking good! Can't wait to see the drawer pulls you chose :)
