Research

Done!!! Finally done with our research project. Today we presented our results to our faculty and peers. I cannot tell you how long this project has been hanging over my head--oh wait, I can: 2 1/2 years. The entire time I've been in PA school. I am NOT a fan of research. Well, let me rephrase that: I am not a fan of DOING research. I think it's fantastic for other people to do it. But it's finally over--thank goodness.
Our poster turned out great, and both of our faculty judges expressed an interest in seeing further research on the topic, which was PA student attitudes and perceived barriers to and competency at managing childhood obesity--a very important and relevant topic. We found that almost all PA students think childhood obesity is an important issue and that it needs to be treated, but there were a lot of perceived barriers to good treatment. That may seem obvious, based on the quickly climbing rates of obesity in the US (and in other countries), but its not always so obvious exactly what those barriers are, nor how to get around them.

Anyways, if you want more information about our research I will gladly share it--but the point of this posting is to declare thanks to God that our research is over!
