Colorado Part 1

Well, we are now well on our way to Estes Park.  We left Friday evening and endured about 4 hours of potty-pleading from Lucy in the back seat.  Eventually she got the idea that we would not in fact be stopping to potty every 4 minutes.  And she settled down.

We made it to Amarillo late that night and survived the mutually escalating scream fest that was Lucy and Elliot's first night together in a hotel.

But things started to look better the next day, especially when we spent a couple hours at the lovely park we came to last year in Dalhart.

This park is awesome, with huge, tall trees and lots of grass and old-fashioned play equipment that probably doesn't meet certain modern safety considerations but is FUN to play on.  Reminds me of our neighborhood playground growing up, before everyone got so safety-conscience.

Man, this family knows how to picnic.  I've never had so many sandwich options.  Good, good, good.

What a difference a year makes, right??  I think I'll be saying that a lot during this Colorado trip.

Last year I was 7 months pregnant with Elliot, and Lucy was truly a toddler, waddling around and falling down every few steps.

Elliot's not toddling yet - at 8 months, he's just an impassioned crawler and puller-upper.  He's been experimenting with noises he can make with his tongue in the back seat.  It's pretty cute.

Last night we spent the evening at Glen Eyrie, a beautiful castle that is now the Navigators' headquarters.

It's lovely there.

Last year, we took a few maternity shots in front of the castle.  It was fun to take some similar photos this year, but with Elliot SO much bigger than he was last year! And so much more visible :).

I love before-and-afters.  Have I told you that?  If you follow this blog, you probably know by now.  I love them.

It's fun to see how things change and grow.

I love reflecting back on how things were a year ago, or two years ago, or 5 years ago.

It's amazing how things keep changing.
