It seems like there was just snow on the ground a few days ago, but it must be longer ago. Because it is definitely Spring.

I'm part of a mom-tographer group that organizes photo-opp-play-dates. And today's was called, "Garden Fairies." I think the original goal was something about fairy wings in the wild flowers. In the end, there were almost no wild flowers, and we went above and beyond with the fairy wings.

I made this dress for Lucy while Daniel was in Mexico a few weeks ago. I'm not going to lie, she doesn't love it. Actually, she wanted to change out of it until all the walkers-by told her how beautiful she looked. And then she didn't mind it as much.

Lucy and I have gone head to head a few times recently (euphemisms abound). Although lots of people are eager to give advice on this issue, my favorite advice is from those whose general sentiment is "she'll grow out of it; it's a phase; it doesn't mean you're doing everything wrong; it doesn't mean she's going to hate you as a teenager."
Goodness this stage can be so, so fun. But wowsa... the emotionally charged disappointing times are rough on all of us.

Elliot's vocabulary has exploded, and he is so eager to communicate verbally now. He loves telling stories. One of his favorite phrases is, "Ah hoe you" (which means I'll show you).

But I LOVE it when he says either, as in, "Das nah uh bug. And das nah uh bug. And das nah uh bug eeever. And das nah uh bug eeeeeeever." He is so cute.

Lucy has made up 2 jokes. The first one goes, "Two men walked into a bar, and the third one ducked. Another one ate bugs. Yucky, yucky bugs! And then Oliver spat up on the table and ATE me!" She thinks it's pretty funny. Her second joke is really more of a pun. It goes, "Mommy, peanuts are privates!" Hahahah. This one she also thinks is hilarious. She tells it a few times/day, minimum.
This weekend is Easter! So far this week, we've had 2 Easter egg hunts that have been a bust. I have promised the kids this Sunday will be better. Easter hunt photos to follow.

PS - Fairy pictures are fun. Here are two "artistic" ones :).

ReplyDeleteAw, SO much to love here! That dress does look gorgeous on her...bravo, mama! And i love hearing their little voices and the funny things they say.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened with the other egg hunts?
Oy veh. The first one got cancelled due to the threat of bad weather, but I didn't know that until we got to the playground and nooobody was there! I had talked it up all morning about how much fun it would be to hunt easter eggs and play on the playground and have a picnic. Very disappointing.
ReplyDeleteThe second one was at a friend's house, and there were DOZENS of kids, and we were a little late getting out to the back yard after the hunt started, so although LOTS of the kids got 20+ eggs, Lucy and Elliot only managed to get about 3, each. They were okay with it until they realized how many eggs all the other kids had. It was sad.
But tomorrow's hunt will be fun. Daniel and I stuffed about 50 eggs tonight, and it'll just be Lucy and Elliot hunting them in the back yard. Can't wait!! :)
