Wowsa -- I can't believe this little guy is already almost a year old!! He has really started acting more like a little kid in some ways these past few weeks.

He loves to play with cars and trucks now, running them along the floor and even sometimes making "vroom" noises for them. This, of course, has led to more conflict between Elliot and him. They are more and more interested in similar toys now.

We've moved Oliver out of the Clursery and into the "green room" (aka "the clinic" or "Lucy's old room") across the hall. This actually has helped immensely with night time. He is mostly sleeping through the night now, whereas in the Clursery he would wake, screaming, for water or a pat on the back.
Just that little extra distance between him and us helps us give him some extra time to put himself back to sleep. Plus, since the "big kids" are currently sleeping on the floor beside our bed, that extra bit of distance means their sleep is less interrupted, too.

He is so, so close to walking. He actually took his first step a few days ago, and he's been more excited about the prospect of walking since then. He LOVES to walk while holding onto our fingers now. He didn't have much interest in it until these past 2 weeks.

He learned to clap this past month! He loves clapping and is so proud of himself and excited when we do it back.

Related to clapping, he's also begun signing "more" (sometimes... ) for food. Mostly he still just screams at us until he gets what he wants, but we are beginning to really push for a sign before handing it over. Sometimes that seems to really make him angry. But a couple of times he did sign his way "more" through lunch. Maybe it had more to do with the sweet potato fries than a real change in stance regarding signing. But still, it's progress.

He really hates having his diaper changed. He does obey "lie still" while getting it changed, but he screams resentfully through the whole ordeal.

He is a cuddly hugger. He loves to rest his head on your shoulder and cuddle, even during the middle of the day when he's not sick. I love it. He's still nursing a tiny bit here and there, too -- I suspect mostly for comfort. He is a cuddle-bug.

Oliver, we love you. What a fun baby you are. We are enjoying seeing your personality emerge and watching you discover the world around you, bit by bit. You are a joy.
