I was incredibly nervous going into it. Up until Friday, every car ride taken with Lucy had been miserable.
She would scream from the moment she was put into her car seat until the moment she was taken out of it.
Daniel's sister and her family live a good 4 1/2 hours away, and this past weekend we went for our nephew's birthday party.
I was pretty sure it was going to be the most miserable 4 1/2 hours of my life. We prayed about it. I prayed hard.
And miracle of miracles--Lucy slept most of the way down and most of the way back!!!
And she was relatively quiet for the rest of the time, when she wasn't sleeping. It was a miracle, I tell you.
I know kids are supposed to love the car and want to sleep in it. But that was not the story with Lucy. Until this weekend. Hallelujah, were we ever thankful.
Jennifer did an awesome job. The party was train themed.
I think I need to start conserving my energy now if I ever hope to throw a party as kid-friendly-fun as this one. It was awesome.
This public park (in the medical center, close to Rice University) has a train that travels around it. On tracks. It is so cool.
Jenn and Dave bought tickets for all the kids and their parents to ride it.
And Rudy's barbecue??? I mean... can you beat that? It was so good.
Not to mention the train cake. With homemade icing.
So good. So. good.
Plus we got some naps in. And lots of conversation. Well, some conversation, anyways.
Good weekend. Good trip. Good food. Good friends.
Love it, love it! The pictures are great and I'm so thankful for you all for the weather and the sleeping and everything!
ReplyDeleteKimie, Radley also was the worst when it came to car rides. He would scream the whole time. It really stressed us out going anywhere, even just here in town...until we set up a monitor and DVD player. I never thought I would let my kids watch videos in the car, but I am now since it stops his screaming. It was the best discovery for us!
ReplyDeleteWe were SO excited that y'all came. Thank you, Kimie and Daniel, and thank you Lucy! Great photos, Kimie!
