Seven Months Old (Lucy's Monthly Photo)

Inspired by this blogger, I'll be photographing Lucy each month in her green outfit until her second birthday.

Lucy is now 25 1/2 inches long and 16 pounds.

She's a little short for her age (25th-50th%) but head circumference and weight-wise, she's in the 50th-75th%.

She's just beautiful.  So cute.

New things this month:  She has started transferring objects from one hand to the other and is more and more able to maintain her grasp on an object when her attention is turned elsewhere.  In fact, she ended up stealing my neighbor's teething ring that way.  I didn't realize she was still holding it in her hand until we were mostly home.

She has started eating a little bit of solids. I made some baby food with my friend the other day and ended up with a lot of carrots.  So I've really been pushing the carrots this week.  Lucy's sort of so-so about them. Pregnancy helped me realize my serious dislike of carrots, so I'm impressed she manages to eat any at all.

Sleep has become a sad subject lately.  I think Lucy is developing her will and has been letting us know, with much wailing and gnashing of gums, that she doesn't like lying in the crib alone at the end of the day.  I don't blame her, but it's made bedtime sort of sad.

Other things this month: I left her in the nursery at church for the first time, while I went to my Tuesday morning Bible study.  Lucy did fine, but it was--for some reason--very upsetting to me.  I don't know when I'll leave her in the nursery again.  I really didn't like it.  Like I said, she did fine.

She has started to scooch around a little more.  I say scooch because it's definitely not a crawl, but it does create movement.  She lies face up and arches her back, making a sort of bridge between her feet and head, causing her head to slide backward on the carpet.

She can cover an impressive amount of distance this way; I just hope she doesn't make herself bald.

  2. I know how it feels to leave your babies with someone else! But it's a good thing. She is going to really benefit from being around other people without you around. It's the HARDEST thing to do, though. Sometimes, I have to remind myself that other people teach her things I would never teach her (in a good way) especially at church! It will get easier, though. She is SUCH an adorable baby, just beautiful!

    1. Thanks, Jenna :). I remember reading when you were going back to work, and it sounded HARD. But it is true--other people do teach her stuff I wouldn't think of. Avery is also so adorable, and I love your post about interesting/not-so-interesting news bits.

  3. You know, it's almost like she's doing a back stroke. Her Aunties Jenn and Ginnie were great swimmers in high school. Maybe she inherited some skills.
