Charlie's been with us for 2 weeks now.
We are getting to know his "newborn temperament" a little more each day.

I wouldn't call him an "easy baby," exactly, but he's nowhere near as difficult as Lucy was as a newborn.
He's pretty insistent about being awake around 3 am and at various other times during the night, but he naps pretty well during the day.

The kids have so enjoyed being able to hold and give kisses to their baby brother.

Lucy has become proficient with our P-touch brother label maker. More on that in the next blog post.

The kids (and Daniel and I) think this toy is hilarious. Its name is Scout. He sings personalized songs for Oliver.
Like there is one song, in particular, where he sings, "I want an elephant! It's my favorite animal... Make him orange! It's my favorite color... I like to eat chicken! It's my favorite food... and I'll call it Oliver! Juuuust like you!"

It cracks the kids up.

Charlie was pretty orange for the first few days, but the jaundice is gone now.

Poor Oliver seemed truly surprised when Charlie was born.

But it didn't take him long to catch on. He watched how the big siblings acted and very quickly wanted to join in the kissing and holding. He hasn't been particularly aggressive with him (so far), though he definitely wants to give him lots of kisses.

Elliot keeps checking in with me, saying, "Mommy--Charlie's not bad, right?"

We had a bit of help from both moms at the beginning.

This newborn time period is so precious but so strange and hard, too.

Everyone is adjusting, I'm recovering, and Charlie is just sleeping, eating, burping, and pooping.

He's had a couple of procedures (circumcision, frenotomy) and has tolerated them well.
I guess he's recovering, too.
