Seventeen Months (Oliver's Monthly Photo)

Oliver has grown up a LOT in the past week and a half since Charlie was born.  He's apparently decided to reconsider his zero-vocab-growth position and has been trying out some new sounds!  Among them are "ah!" (for water) and "tut" (for truck) and if he's really desperate, we get the occasional "da!" (for dada) and "mamama" (for mama).

He loves reading about trucks.  We have about 3 board books with various photos of trucks, and he adores them all.  And as of recently, he actually wants to sit still, on our laps, and wait for us to turn the pages!  That is a huge improvement over how it has been up until now, with the shrieking and his desperate attempts to flip all the pages at once.

He can follow instructions really well!  Daniel routinely tells him, "Oliver, you're a poopster.  Meet me in the green room at the changing table," and he does it! In fact, he's more cooperative if he runs to the changing table himself, instead of being carried.

He loves pushing and pulling hard during play.  He loves playing, "bonk" (where he hits his head against yours).  And he loves trains and cars.  He can sit, happy, with several trains for quite a while.

He's as much a shriekster as ever, though we're hopeful--given his new attempts at some words--we might be nearing the end of that tunnel.

He loves his elephant and loves his pacifier.  He loves cuddles after nap time and loves giving kisses to Charlie and holding him.

Oliver, we love you and are so proud of you!  You are so funny and cute and sweet.  You are almost a year and a half!

  1. And he knows which truck is which! Like, those board books are super specific, but he gets them right most of the time!
