Three Months Old (Lucy's Monthly Photo)

Inspired by this blogger, I'll be photographing Lucy each month in her green outfit until her second birthday.

Three months old, and Lucy is wonderful.  As I have already mentioned, she enjoys lots of eye contact and cooing now.

Her favorite place in the house continues to be the changing table.  I think she likes the view from there, because she can see the entire room and out the bedroom window.  She has yet to warm up to car rides.  She still cries most of the way, wherever we go.

We have, just this week, started a modified "cry it out" method at bedtime.  It is a little heartbreaking.  We only let her cry for 5 minutes at a time, and she sleeps much better afterward.  Still... I hate to hear her crying.  We swapped out all of her 0-3 month clothes for 3-6 months.  She is getting so BIG!  I think she's almost 15 pounds now.

Oh, and she's swatting at her toys some these days.  And trying to figure out which are the best fingers to suck on.  More on that later.

Lucy, we love you and have loved being your parents these past 3 months!

Lucy Cooing

Wow Lucy has started really cooing now.  It is so cute.

There are usually a couple times during the day when she is this animated.  Hope this video plays easily for you.  Love it.

A Busy Weekend and a Huge Party

We had a good weekend.  A busy weekend.

We had Daniel's uncle and aunt over for dinner on Friday night, then a bridesmaid luncheon and lingerie shower on Saturday...

And finally Park Cities Presbyterian Church's 20 year anniversary party on Sunday evening, held on the SMU field.

It was a huge party.  2500 people.

Big bounce houses, slides, etc.  Good food.  Good program after dinner.  And then fireworks.

Mi Cocina catered.  Yum.

Most of my Sunday night small group above.  Hope you had a good weekend, too!

Disaster Area

Have you had one of these rooms in your house?

I know some of you have never had a room that got to this level of cluttered-ness.

But there are plenty of you who have more than one room like this.

Maybe it never quite got unpacked to your liking... and therefore was never a room you were proud of to begin with.

Or maybe it started out nice enough... and slowly deteriorated.

Whatever the case, take heart.  There is hope.

Probably all you need is a good friend's advice on what to get rid of... what to rearrange... what to keep the same... Just keep at it.

There is hope.  It will get better.  Chip away at it, bit by bit.

If you only manage to clear off ONE surface this week/month... it's progress.  Just don't lose hope.

Happy Friday!!

More Nursery Organizing...

I thought I was finished organizing the nursery.  Wasn't that naive of me?

I thought, when I found a place for every article of clothing before Lucy was born, that would be the last time.

Wow.  Turns out babies grow out of the small sizes quickly.

So after one sister gave me a ton of new hand-me-downs, another one came to help me organize it.

Trying clothes on Lucy is so fun.  She is such a doll.

I love this outfit.  It's Baby Phat - a gift from one of the showers.

Probably not what I would have bought for Lucy on my own, but kind of cute.

She looks just like a little Aggie cheerleader... if those existed.  (We have yell leaders at A&M.  Whoop!).

I am so proud.  We went from this (above)...

to this!  So much better.  Thanks Nickie and Carrie!

Lucy's First "Play Date"

I met April the other day at a mutual friend's baby shower, and her baby is 5 weeks old.

His name is Austin, and he was Lucy's very first "play mate" for her first "play date!"

I put those two terms in quotes for obvious reasons.

There was, in fact, zero interaction between the two infants.

But it was nice to "talk mommy" with another new mom.

And oh my GOSH Lucy is HUGE, compared to Austin.

To be fair, she is twice his age.  Looking forward to many more play-dates in the years to come!

Reflections on the Blog

My 200th postI started this blog in August of 2009, almost exactly 2 years ago.  I can't believe it's only been 2 years... so much has changed since then.

Daniel and I were living in Galveston, looking forward to my graduation from UTMB.  Since then, I graduated, we got jobs in Dallas, bought a house in Richardson, moved, and had a baby.

I have mostly enjoyed keeping up the blog.  It is a lot of work.  And sometimes I get discouraged and want to stop writing.  I am always delighted to hear that someone follows the blog, but sometimes it is difficult to know what to write.

A wise friend of mine once said "the internet is not to be trusted with your soul" (or something like that -- Sorry, Colleen, I can't remember exactly what you said).  I think that's true.  But sometimes I don't feel like I put enough of "myself" on the blog.  Particularly I feel that way after I read this blogger, whom I LOVE.  Anyways, I'm going to try to be better about that.

I really think I'm settling nicely into this stay-at-home mom routine.  I like it.  A lot.  Sometimes I think I should want to be at work.  I don't.  I really, really think Lucy is so much fun.  And I hate that these days go by so quickly, and before I know it my kids will be grown, and I'll have to say goodbye to them (I already have anxiety about this.  Ugh).  In fact, I frequently look at Daniel and think, "...one compelling reason to keep this marriage alive and healthy is that some day it's just gonna be the two of us again... and I want to still be friends when that day comes."  How intense is that?

I got sick last night with a fever and muscle aches.  Yuck.  Thankfully this is Daniel's work-from-home day, so he's taken over most of Lucy's care.

Lucy's sweet, sweet cousin Jack sang her a lullaby the other day.  I couldn't figure out the focus mechanism on our camera, so it's a little blurry.

Bed time is sometimes very sad.  Much screaming and gnashing of teeth.

First night in the 60's!  Long-sleeved pajamas were irresistable.

Lucy has been trying so hard to figure out the thumb-sucking thing.  She took a quick break for a photo-op.

I hope you have had a good week!
