Final Before and After - Elliot's Closet Nursery (Clursery)

Okay, final before-and-after photos of the world's tiniest nursery (probably really not the world's tiniest nursery)!



Elliot, you can come out now.  The nursery is ready for you.

Nursery Mirror Before-and-After

I had been wanting to add a mirror under Lucy's chair rail since she started pulling up on things.




She--like most babies--loves her reflection.



And when she gets a little older and can play dress up, this mirror will have been a helpful addition.
 
 

I was going to get a custom-cut mirror for this space, but custom-cut mirrors are expensive!  And this one works just fine.  What do you think?

More Nursery Organizing...

I thought I was finished organizing the nursery.  Wasn't that naive of me?

I thought, when I found a place for every article of clothing before Lucy was born, that would be the last time.



Wow.  Turns out babies grow out of the small sizes quickly.

 

So after one sister gave me a ton of new hand-me-downs, another one came to help me organize it.

 

Trying clothes on Lucy is so fun.  She is such a doll.

 

I love this outfit.  It's Baby Phat - a gift from one of the showers.

 

Probably not what I would have bought for Lucy on my own, but kind of cute.

 

She looks just like a little Aggie cheerleader... if those existed.  (We have yell leaders at A&M.  Whoop!).

 

I am so proud.  We went from this (above)...

 

to this!  So much better.  Thanks Nickie and Carrie!

Final Before-and-After Photos from the Nursery Room Makeover

Alright, I am officially checking "redo the yellow room as a nursery" off the list.  Done.  Lucy, you can come out now.  Your room is ready.  Officially.



I love before-and-after photos.  Without further ado, here are the ones from the nursery!  Wherever possible, I've linked to the individual posts about each re-do, and then there are several pictures of accessories and extras.  Enjoy.



Lots of changes from the left photo to the right!  Where to begin...

We replaced all those closet shelves with new cubby shelves and painted.  See the process here (part 1) and here (part 2).  
 

This corner photo shows the old carpet and the old wall color (with baseboards removed).  The photo on the right shows the new flooring (Lumber Liquidators Mayflower 3/8" x 5" Sundance Hand Scraped Birch Plank), and the process of laying the floor can be seen here (part 1) and here (part 2).  The bookshelf is walmart, and the hamper matches the Cocalo Sophie style of nursery bedding seen in the rest of the photos.  



New ceiling fan!  Not a 5-minute installation as advertised on the box, but still Daniel can switch these things out pretty quickly now.  He's done it about 7 times in the past 3 years.  The fan is a Hunter brand, from Lowes.  

Here you can see the new paint colors (Valspar Seaside Retreat "Garden Fairy" above the chair rail and "Seaside Moss" below) and the new baseboard and chair rail.

New light switch!  I purchased the cover on the right from eBay, but it is the same Cocalo "Sophie" that matches the rest of the bedding.  



New vent cover, and you can see that the popcorn ceiling texture has been removed.  

New doorknob and hinges!  Here was my thought process on the doorknob dilemma.  Settled on the one on the right (Kwickset brand, from Lowes)... with no lock.



You can see our homemade shelf there on the right, and here was the process of making it.   

I am in love with this cradle.  Over 100 years old, it has been in our good friends' family for several generations and is on loan to us for Lucy's first few months.  Isn't it beautiful?  

A gift from a friend in Winnie.  So delicate and pretty.  

The changing table and crib are both Generation Next brand in the espresso finish.  Thank you, Craigslist! 



I think this is so cute.  It hung in Daniel's nursery when he was a baby and (correct me if I'm wrong, Becky) was made by his grandma.




This cute bow board was made by Daniel's cousin and given to us at the first shower.  She even got the colors of the nursery right!

Love this little night light cover.  Made by a local artist.  Too cute.   

Oooh pretty pink rug from Target. This will be Lucy's view of the room in just a few months!
