Back home and homeward bound

Back from Colorado and I've never been smarter. I think the intense, 5-day review course was very helpful in preparing me for my boards (the PA National Certification Exam--PANCE) next month. But I am exhausted! Thank goodness sister and mom are coming to help pack--the pod will be packed by the end of the week!

Denver's downtown is awesome. I wish Dallas' downtown was like that--all clean and filled with activity in the evenings. I walked for about 15 minutes and (no joke) found 4 different Starbucks in that time. And 2 Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory stores--my favorite! Their chocolate-covered, caramel apples are awesome! I'm pretty sure they're meant to be split, b/c eating a whole one did NOT make my stomach feel nice. But it was delicious.

I'm not sure where my home is right now. My stuff is in a big box outside of the house in Galveston. Hubby is in Dallas, and future job is there. Friends and church are here, but friends and family are there. Feels like part of me is already in Dallas and part is here. So if home is where the heart is... that doesn't help much at the moment. Looking forward to having this transition over with!

More updates soon...

Appliance time!!!

Wow. Being a grown-up is expensive! The other day we ordered our appliances for the new house--so fun!

Here is the fridge we got.
My favorite features: freezer is on the bottom, gallon-sized door pockets, no external water dispenser, and energy star qualified!

And here are the AWESOME washer and dryer.

Aren't they pretty?

I'm pretty sure the next generation will view this color of red about like we view the avocado green appliances of our parents' (or grandparents'?) generation. But I don't care. I love it! Somewhat surprisingly, Daniel likes them too--in fact the red was his idea. Feels good to be on the same page.

O.M.G.

For those that don't know, the above title stands for "oh my gosh"...

...As in OH MY GOSH THAT WAS THE BIGGEST ROACH I HAVE EVER SEEN. I thought it was going to start talking to me, it was so big. Not that big animals talk, but you get the idea. It was close to 3 inches long, with another inch and a half of antennae.

Although I have been missing Daniel since he moved to Dallas, I don't think I have missed him as passionately as I did when I saw that ginormous demon on the wall. Lauren, the girl living with me, spotted the "water bug," as she called it. I know our memories can deceive us, but now that I think about it--it might have been the size of a mouse.

10-foot ceilings are awesome until you have a mouse-sized demon bug 10 feet up, threatening to fly at you any second... which it did, once Lauren threw the shoe at it. We both started screaming, and I held down the Raid button for a full 5-10 seconds, following the flying demon to the floor and then a few feet more. With a final smack from Lauren's flip flop, the beast was finally dead.

COULD SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME THE POINT OF THOSE THINGS??

For realz... God made everything. Everything. ROACHES??? Yes, everything.

Add this to the list of things I don't understand about my Maker.

The first box is in the pod!

Well, my wonderful MIL Becky is here, helping me get the packing truly started.

Here is the pod:
Note the "for lease" sign in our yard. Anybody need a cute 2 bedroom house in Galveston?

And here is the very first box... in the POD :).
Woohoo!! It's started!

And now, introducing...

Mr. and Mrs. Homeowner!! I had this adorable picture of me and Daniel, standing in front of our new home. But then I misplaced the camera... so I don't have that picture. What I DO have are some lovely pictures of the inside of the house!! The furniture shown in the pictures are not ours... so obviously the house will look different once we fill it with our stuff :). (Wowsa... I just said "picture" 4 times in as many sentences)

We also narrowed our furniture choices down to a sectional (grey) with complimenting chair (striped: grey, black, and taupe). Again... if I had pictures, I would share. Will do, once they're delivered and in the house... which will be soon!!

More of the adorable nephews...

I had the opportunity to babysit adorable nephew #2 the other day. He taught me a little about space, and I wanted to share! (The volume is low, so you might have to turn it up to hear it)

Isn't he cute?? Although I will REALLY miss adorable nephew # 4 in Houston, I am so looking forward to living in Dallas permanently so I can learn more kid-wisdoms :).
