Daniel's Birthday Party

Daniel turned the big 2-9 last week.  We had a party for him on Friday.

I went crazy at Party City and bought an obscene amount of money's worth of matchy-matchy paper plates (and napkins and cups and anything else matching I could find), and then the guilt got a hold of me, and I returned the matchy plates/napkins in favor of perfectly nice clear plastic ones from Costco.  But I kept the fun cups.  I love matchy-matchy party supplies.  I love all things matchy-matchy.

Anyways...

We were going to have a small family birthday party, but it ended up growing and growing.

As it turned out in the end, it wasn't huge but was certainly a good sized group.

And it was nice that some friends in circles usually isolated from each other finally got to meet.

Lucy's friend Austin was sacked out for most of the party.

Lucy was actually pretty exhausted, herself.

Doesn't she look intense in this photo?

I was glad that all of her Dallas cousins were at the party, but of course I wish her Houston cousins could have been there as well.

I made pizza and salad for dinner...

...and of course cake for dessert.  Yum.

I love homemade cake.  I love cream cheese icing.

Both Daniel's family and mine went in on a group gift for him this year - a bike!

And to go with the bike, a trailer for baby Lucy.  I wanted to get him a baby seat to attach to his bike, but it turns out the baby has to be at least a year old to sit in those kinds of seats.

The trailer is perfect.  We took our first family bike outing the other day, and it was idyllic.  What a fun party!  Thanks, everyone who contributed to the bike!  Daniel really likes it!

  1. Such a great party and the cake was amazing (so was everything else). Hehe I didn't know you too a picture of Austin, he was so sleepy. Lucys expression is cute.
