Menu/Dry Erase DIY Project

I have been meaning to blog about this for a couple weeks now, so here goes.  I am envious of my SIL and BIL in Houston who somehow manage to print weekly menus (always affixed to the fridge) and stick to them throughout the week (and this in addition to both being physicians and having two little ones!).

There's no way I can do weekly printed menus, but I have been making use of my new dry erase/menu board!  This is the end product (above).

Supplies: a large picture frame (with glass), spray paint, newspaper, 4 sheets of scrapbook paper

And here are the steps!
1.  Find or buy a large picture frame with glass (this one was a hand-me-down from my mom).

2.  Spray paint the frame whatever color you like (I chose black).

3.  You might want to spray paint the frame outside so the fumes don't sit in your house (and the paint doesn't get on your stuff).

4.  You'll probably need to apply paint a few times to get the whole frame covered (hold the spray can about 12 inches from the frame and use quick, sweeping motions to avoid drips).

5.  Next, lay the scrapbook papers out, adhering them to each other in the shape and to the dimensions of the frame (mine was 16x20, so I had to cut the papers to fit).

6.  You can either print the words "Menu" (and the days of the week) on the printer -- as I did -- or write it on the papers with a marker.

To print the words onto the paper, just trim one of them down to 8 1/2" width to run it through the printer and piece the sheet together with the others.

Write on the glass with a dry erase marker, and voila!  I left the bottom of mine blank, so that I could use it as a To-Do list on days when I was overwhelmed.

Enough of that.  Lucy's new thing is grasping objects and bringing them to her mouth.  She is getting so good at it!  And fast!

Love watching her do it, but I'm sad that my days of holding her on my lap while I eat/type/do anything are quickly coming to an end.  Soon she'll be reaching for my fork and probably most items on my plate.
