Adventures in Shed Finishing: Part 4

Oh my gosh we have made crazy amounts of progress on the shed.

We have insulation.  We have walls.  We even have part of a floor!

We put up the sheet rock over the last few weeks.  The hardest part was the ceiling.  Well, and cutting around the outlets was sort of a pain.  But thank the Lord Daniel screwed in the last piece of drywall over the weekend.

Then we did something brilliant.  Remember Ramon, who installed Lucy's baseboards forever ago?  We called him, and he came out and made the walls so, so smooth with tape and mud.  Then he textured and painted.  He's a great handyman--lots of attention-to-detail--and now the walls are just beautiful.

We got about 2/3 of the flooring installed over the weekend.  It took Daniel and me about 6 hours, so I figure we should be able to finish the floor sometime this week.  I bought the baseboards today, so those will go in next - and then we can finally move the remaining bookshelves from the 4th bedroom into the shed.

We leave for Colorado in less than 2 weeks.  Before then, we'll host a baby shower here and take up the laminate from the living room and hallway - and also take up the carpet from the 4th bedroom.  We'll come home (hopefully) to a more level home, with 13 piers under it, and a lot of bare concrete waiting for us to install new flooring on top of it!

To-Do List for the Shed:
- Frame the doorway (i.e. install 1x4 boards around the periphery of the doorway on the inside)
- Run electrical wires in the trench and bury them
- Install outlets, breaker box, and lights
- Install vents in the "attic space" of the shed to allow for better air circulation at the top of the structure
- Finish flooring
- Install baseboards (and paint?)
- Purchase and install portable A/C unit
- Move bookshelves in
- Build a desk and bookshelves for Daniel

We're getting there.  We're definitely getting there.
