Ohhh the emotions she experiences in a day - can you even imagine?
These photos were taken within about 10 minutes of each other. Imagine experiencing these emotions within 10 minutes. Actually, some days I find that being pregnant gets me pretty close.
These photos were from a weekend get-together with my family, a going-away dinner for my sister Carrie, who is by now settling into her place in India to learn Hindi over the next 5 months - crazy, huh?
Hi, Carrie - I'm sorry I haven't emailed you yet. I enjoyed your blog post about your plane rides!

And now my reflections on today:
I thought the low point of my day today was when Lucy threw up all over herself and her car seat as we pulled into the Costco parking lot. But I was wrong.
The actual low point of today was when she threw up for the second time - inside Costco. In the middle of the store. All over me, including down my shirt, and all over herself. Again. Huge chunks of her lunch (from 5 hours before) all over both of us. Awesome.
Since she was wearing her alternate outfit from her diaper bag at the time of the second throw up, we were out of luck when it came to changing her--again. So we walked out of Costco with her wearing a bib and diaper and me wearing a puke-soaked tank top.

The second worst moment of the day came when I realized I'd left the house with no pacifier. So we drove home with her screaming, and with both of us inhaling the stench of what her poor, upset tummy had ejected.

She wouldn't stop signing "eat" all through Costco and immediately after she threw up (both times). Made me too sad to think of putting her to bed with an empty, hungry stomach - so we went ahead and gave her a bottle of milk to send her off to sleep. She hasn't thrown it up yet, and bedtime was 2 1/2 hours ago - so I'm cautiously optimistic she might keep it down while she sleeps.

Sleep well, baby girl. I hope you wake up feeling better than you did when we put you down. And I hope you never throw up on me in the middle of Costco--or any other store--ever again.

Oooh, my poor sister! And brother-in-law! I'm so sorry yesterday was so hard. You guys are good parents, and dear Lucy is lucky to have you for her mom. Hope she feels better soon!
