Father's Day

Happy Father's Day!   I was so fortunate not to have to work today.  We had a really nice day.

We started out by making The Pioneer Woman's cinnamon rolls (YUM).

I had begun them the night before, and the kids helped finish them up in time for breakfast.

We had enough leftover to run them to a few neighbors' houses, which was fun, too.

Papa came over for breakfast and got to play with the kids for a bit before heading home.

That was a treat!

We are so lucky to have not just one, but TWO Papas who love to play with the kids.  We'll celebrate with the other Papa this week.

The kids have been a little out of sorts due to a stomach virus.  We've had some cuddles here and there and LOTS of tantrums in between.  Mostly by the boys.  Lucy seems to be over it now.

The kids love the iPad. They almost never get to play on it because their attitudes are TERRIBLE after they do.  But they really enjoy it, and for a few brief moments here and there, they play really nicely together on it.

Oliver has recently become obsessed with sweeping.  This broom--we call it, "the broom of despair"--is a source of temporal joy and endless frustration for Oliver.  It trips him up when he's walking, but he is determined to sweep with it the way he sees the big kids (and Daniel and me) do.

Even though it was clearly too cold for it, the kids begged to go swim with their new goggles in the kiddy pool, and we relented.

Oliver didn't last long.  Well, neither did Elliot, actually.  But it was fun while it lasted.

After swimming, the kids "helped" Daniel grill our dinner.  Steaks, corn, and asparagus.  So good.

Can you believe the chaos in this picture (below)?  This is our life right now.

After dinner it was jammy time, story time, and teeth-brushing time.

It was such a nice Father's day.  I hope yours was nice, too.
