Two months old, and it seems the newborn is gone! Charlie has become a full-faced little smiley baby.
He is all about the eye contact. Strangers have commented on how engaging he is -- maybe more so than others at this age.
He loves to smile. Earlier than our others did, I think. He started smiling about 2 weeks ago.
He's found his fingers now. He doesn't quite suck on them in a soothing way, but they do keep finding their way to his mouth. I'm hoping it will help him self soothe at some point, since he still doesn't accept a pacifier (and it still causes him to gag).

At his 2 month check up, he weighed 11.8 pounds (30%) was 24 inches long (85%), and his head had grown to 15.5 in. (70%). Healthy baby boy. Well, healthy except for the stuffy nose that has come and gone with every upper respiratory infection his siblings have passed him over the past couple months.

We were putting him on his tummy to sleep here and there, but since he's now at the age range (2-3 months) at which SIDS risk peaks, we're just putting him on his back now.
He's still sleeping 10 hour stretches at night (and has been for about 3 weeks), thanks--I believe--to observing "Le pause" described in Bringing Up Bebe. I love that book. God bless Pamela Druckerman for writing it. The French may be a little snobby, but they do croissants and newborn sleep training right.

Okay anyways--Charlie. He's great. We like him a lot. All the kids are nuts about him.
They want to touch him and hug him and hold him whenever they're in the same room. Oliver definitely misses being the baby, but he's not aggressive toward Charlie at all, which is nice. Mostly he just wants his after nap time snuggles.

Even though Charlie doesn't take a pacifier, he does okay in the car. He cries if something's wrong, but otherwise he's pretty happy. Especially on the highway. Maybe it's the glorious night of sleep he's getting. Puts him in a better mood than our other ones at this age.
Charlie, we love you. We are so happy you are our number 4! You are right where you belong.
