The first morning at any B&B is bound to be a little awkward. Lots of strangers meeting each other, over breakfast, using fine china, and trying to figure out how to have a conversation. It was that way this morning--at first. But some of the people staying here are really nice.
One of the couples is celebrating their 20th anniversary, but I swear they don't look more than 32 years old. The wife joked that they're from Kentucky, and they start young there. But STILL. She looks really young. Makes me wonder if her skin has ever been out in the sun.
Speaking of that.

What a gorgeous day for the beach. It was a shock to remember that not all sand is packed down like Galveston sand. The sand at Cannon Beach was almost bouncy in the surf part.

And the water was COLD.

We ate lunch at this very bare-bones place called, "Ecola Seafood Restaurant." Yes--I agree that it sounds a lot like "E. coli," but it's the name of the area, apparently.

Anyways, I'm confident we didn't get E. Coli.

We ate Halibut fish 'n chips and clam chowder. Yum.

The trip to and from the beach had big changes in altitude, up and down the mountains. Our ears kept popping. Sometimes we went through the mountains.

We got back to town and returned the rental car, so from now on we're on foot and at the mercy of public transportation.

Downtown they were showing The Muppets Take Manhattan on a big, inflated screen in the town square. So cool. We sat and listened to the live band but then headed back before the movie started, because we were
tired. Good day.
