Four Months Old (Lucy's Monthly Photo)

Inspired by this blogger, I'll be photographing Lucy each month in her green outfit until her second birthday.

Oh my goodness, she's four months old!  I have to say, she is growing on us more and more everyday.  She is SO much fun!!

I was just discussing this with my SIL -- I think ages 4-6 months are the best.  She is happy and cuddly, always glad to be held but also getting more tolerant of being left alone with a toy for 10 minutes here and there.

She has discovered in the past week that she can make a screaming sound while she plays.  It is a very pure, high pitch - sort of like a whistle.  It's not exactly annoying to Daniel and me... more amusing at this point.  She seems delighted by it, and that is fun.

She is, slowly but surely, getting better about riding in the car.  I have made an effort to stick her in the car when she is still asleep or else right after she wakes up, and that seems to help.  So does keeping the windows open.  I think the cold air shocks her a little; and the added wind noise helps diffuse the distressing crying.  She is so much more interested in her toys than she was last month.  She particularly likes the ones that light up and play music.

I often catch Lucy doing little crunches when she's lying on her back.  I know she can't wait to be able to sit up on her own, but I really like that she can't yet.  Oh, and she's able to hold toys in her hands now!  That happened in the last week as well.  I so enjoyed handing her a toy today and watch her bring it up to her mouth.  Cute, cute, cute.

I think she's teething.  Last night she woke us up every 2 hours.  It was a long night.  She woke up, chipper as a lark, but I wonder if the frequent awakenings were due to some discomfort in her gums.  I'll need to buy our very first bottle of infant Tylenol soon.

With the wedding behind us, we are now looking forward to Daniel's upcoming birthday!  That, and my starting a new job, with orientation later this week.  I suffer from anxiety about leaving Lucy (what mom doesn't?), even though it will only be a couple days here and there.  Orientation will actually be much more intense, from a scheduling perspective, than my days at the new job.  Still -- think of me and pray for peace, if it crosses your mind.  Also, pray for my poor mom, recovering from a car accident, a broken right forearm, and a broken left hand.  And that is what's going on for us right now!
