My friend Jill has great taste. I love her home furnishings - they are tasteful and distinctly "her," and she manages to avoid the pitfall that gets me: "It matches! I love it!" That is not to say that things shouldn't match. But I have been known to become obsessed with things that match, and sometimes I think that limits me.
Anyways. One of Jill's most helpful pieces of advice is to find items that you love, and only buy the things you really, really like. Don't worry about where you'll put it. You will make a place for something you really like.
I have never been as much into estate sales as one of my sisters, who loves them. But I went to one a couple weeks ago, and I found these chairs (there are two, exactly alike). I love them. And at $25 each, who wouldn't??
They are probably from the 60's, and I'd say the upholstery is probably original. I'm going to find someone to re-upholster them, I'm going to re-stain the legs, and I am going to make a cozy seating nook in my bedroom. I can picture it so clearly. It may take me a while to get it done, but believe me--I'll do it.
nice purchase... i'm sad you didn't brag about the price.
ReplyDeleteLove it, Kim. Can't wait to see your progress shots for the project!
