Daniel Turns 30!

On Friday we celebrated Daniel's 30th birthday with a family pizza party.

I had pretty much resigned myself to the fact that the house would look terrible - like a tornado had gone through it.  That's what it's looked like, off and on, for the last several months... but especially more so lately, as my energy level has dropped and Lucy's seems to have risen.  But then a miracle happened.

My sisters Nickie and Heidi showed up and cleaned the house.  They worked like Energizer bunnies.  For hours.  It was amazing.  I hadn't even dared to hope the house would look so nice.  It was a real treat.

We missed the out-of-town family who couldn't come, but it was really nice to have both sets of parents and several siblings present.

I made a behemoth chocolate cake with cream cheese icing.  It was ridiculously tall.  And yummy.

Thank you to Heidi for taking many of these photos!  The lighting is a little wonky in some of them, due to my still learning how to use our separate flash.

Elliot update:  Umm... Elliot has decided to stay put, for now.

There is not a lot more to say about it.  I really thought he would be early.  That turns out to have been wishful thinking.

Lucy was introduced to decaf iced tea at the party, and she fell in love.  I can see why.  Decaf iced tea with sonic ice is wonderful.

One of Lucy's favorite activities is putting clothes on over her head.  It is really cute.  I am so glad she's finally more interested in putting her own clothes on than digging my unmentionables out of the laundry to put those on.  That was an uncomfortable phase.

Anyways, happy birthday, Daniel!  I am glad you were born 30 years ago.
