Our First Week with Baby Elliot

Wow - has it really been a week?  Almost.  6 Days.  We've enjoyed 6 days with baby Elliot.

Daniel, Ginnie, Mom, Dinah, and Terah (the photographer) were in the room when we welcomed Elliot.  Jack soon joined to hello.  About 3 hours after he was born, Lucy woke up and came in with Daniel to meet her baby brother!

Lucy was a little distressed to meet Elliot.  I think she feared she was being replaced.  Seeing him nursing or being held... or hearing him cry... all were extremely upsetting to her.

She looks okay in this photo (above), but she was really quite... fragile.

Proud Daddy (above).

We are lucky that Elliot came so close to Thanksgiving, because both my out-of-town sister and (one of) Daniel's was in town for a visit!  So it was nice to see them.

In fact, Heather and Becky were very close to being there for the actual birth, but the long drive from Caldwell meant they arrived about an hour after Elliot arrived.

We spent that first day resting and chatting with family who came to the house.  Dad brought over Panera bagels and egg souffles (YUM) for breakfast.  It felt very special :).

Nickie - I forgot to get a picture of you with Elliot that evening - oops!  Next time.  Carrie - we miss you.  Come back from India!

The rest of the week we've spent getting acquainted with Elliot and accepting yummy food from our friends.

...And admiring Elliot's sweet, cute face.

I like these pictures of the grandmamas (above).

We have had so much help from the grandmas this week - just their presence has been so nice.

Lucy is a handful, and having someone here who can play with her has been a blessing.

Daniel looks like a real dad here :).

Lucy began warming up to Elliot at about 48 hours.

At 48 hours, she was curious about him and wanted to hold him for the first time.

I was so proud of her.  She was so tickled to be holding him.

And since then, she's been growing in affection for him.

It's so cute to see a baby holding another baby.  Every time she sees me, she signs "baby" and wants to go find Elliot to hold him.

I am curious to see the dynamic between Lucy and Elliot as it develops.  I so hope that they will be good friends - - teammates.

It has been SO nice having Daniel home from work.

I feel like a big chunk of my impatience for Elliot to get here was due to my eagerness to have some time with Daniel.

And I know Lucy has really loved the extra play time with him.

....And just the lazy down time, watching Sesame Street in front of the fire with her daddy close by.

Wow that is a lot of photos.  I hope your week has been good.  We've enjoyed ours immensely.
