Pebby, Teo... FWENDS!

Sebastian (Sebi, aka "Pebby") and his baby brother Mateo ("Teo") were Lucy's very first friends.  They were our neighbors until a couple months ago.

Lucy was just reaching the age where she understood which one was Sebi's house... and then they moved.  So every day, Lucy continues to point to their house and declare, "Pebby!  Teo!  FWENDS!!"  It is so sad.

We made it by their new house for the first time a couple weeks ago, and Sebi hosted a beautiful tea party.

Whenever Lucy or Jack asked for anything, he responded, "of course!" and happily poured them more tea or helped them get another piece of pumpkin bread.  What a gracious host.

Jack was his usual entertaining self, which Sebi loves.

We ourselves had some house guests the other day -- Elliot's great grandmother.  It was her very first time holding him, and he loved it.

And his Aunt Barbara, too.

I wonder if Lucy will grow up to be a gardener.  I'm only a "gardener" in the sense that I once planted a garden which I now let my sprinkler system tend to.  Some day I will weed it, and then I will be a "real" gardener.  Like Lucy.

Speaking of Lucy, can I tell you about how excited she is to be put in time out?  Up until recently, "time out" was only the consequence for her older cousin's offenses.  But now that she is a little older, and the manner of her disobedience has shifted somewhat, we are finding "time out" to sometimes be appropriate for her, as well.  She feels so grown up--I can tell.  She beams up at me as she walks over to the "time out" spot, and she mimics Jack's bored fiddling while I silently count down the seconds in my head until she is allowed to come out.

This particular time, she put herself in time out--she likes it that much.  It is so fun to see her embrace little aspects of growing older--even if they're not always the aspects I pictured her embracing.
