The HugglePod is Lucy's very first birthday present, sent by our very good friends Joe and Sarah in Beaumont.

It is a cool concept -- basically a hanging reading nook. It came in the mail a few days ago, and I have been itching to get it hung up in the tree in the corner of our yard.

So today was the day to tackle it. My mom and I went to Lowes to get the hanging hardware, and Daniel got the rope tied up in the tree over his lunch break. Have I mentioned how much I love having Daniel work from home? It is amazing. Anyways...

The kids were pretty chill, given the 90-something degree heat. Elliot hung out on his blanket while Lucy played in the sandbox and then eventually went to keep Daniel company.

He was studying knots. She was "helping" by handing him various toys and calling his attention to the sky whenever she heard an airplane.

Tonight after we got back from taking some family pictures, we seized the last of the evening's sunlight to get a few pictures of Lucy discovering her "surprise." We talked it up the whole way home from the pictures. Lucy, Sadie and Pop sent you a SURPRISE. Do you want a SURPRISE?? When we get home, then you'll see it. It's going to be so much fun!

And sure enough, she was SO excited about her surprise. She couldn't wait to crawl into it, and then she wanted her drink and her Elmo doll and her shoes in there with her.
Then it was Jack's turn to try it out.

And then Elliot's. Elliot was tickled to be inside of it, and it was sweet to see a glimpse of the future -- of Lucy and Elliot playing together in the HugglePod as slightly older kids... reading together or tickling or maybe even just arguing.

It's the week of Lucy's 2nd birthday. I cannot believe she's almost two. What a great two years it has been.

And how exciting it is to look forward to the next many years with her.
Great series of pictures!-- glad to have the memories recorded. It is so much fun parenting with you.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Daniel :). And ditto.
DeleteY'all are so precious!! I think I dreamed of having a HugglePod as a child, well before there ever was one!
