A Splendid Morning with No Life-Threatening Illnesses

One thing that is not fun about being a mommy with medical knowledge is the ability to go from "oh, I'm sure it's just a virus" to "My baby has meningococcemia and is going to DIE" in about 15 minutes.  That was me last week.

Elliot's fine.  But he seemed very sick when his fever was high.  Thankfully a quick, reassuring doctor visit put my mind at ease, and we enjoyed the morning at home.

It's rare for Jack and Lucy to get along splendidly.  They like each other, but they get on each other's nerves sometimes.    But last week we enjoyed a splendid morning (after the terrifying lethargic Elliot moment followed by the reassuring doctor visit).

The kids have gotten some good mileage out of the big, inflatable ball.

Lucy seems to have a love-hate relationship with it, eager to get in but then whining to get out almost immediately.

Speaking of getting good mileage out of toys - Lucy loves this slide.  Her new adventure in the last week or so has been going down head-first, on her back.  She puts a pillow at the bottom to ease her landing.  She says, "Mommy, chair!" or "Dadda, peeno!" when she wants an audience for her stunt.

I love how much Jack looks like a snail here.

Sweet, rashy little Elliot in his big-boy underpants.

The potty training is going... okay.  It's really more like mommy-training.

I'm getting better at predicting when he might go, but if I'm distracted with other tasks, I tend to do a lot of pee-pee cleaning.

One of my photography group's creativity challenges last week was "texture".  This was my submission (above).  I love sweet, wispy baby hair.  Love.

Can I tell you how much I love this picture?  It is so Lucy.  And so summer.
