Fourth of July

Happy Independence Day!  Did you have a good one?  I hope so.  We had a nice one.

Lucy had a fever the day before, so we weren't sure how many festivities we'd be able to join.

But on the day of the 4th, she was in good spirits and afebrile--so we headed over to Nonnie and Papa's neighborhood parade.

And then to their community pool for a quick swim and a picnic in the pool chairs.

After that we headed home for the kids' naps.

And then more swimming!

We went to my parents' house and enjoyed catching Lucy off the diving board and practicing floating with Elliot.

Actually, poor Elliot is not enjoying floating these days.  He needs some more lessons.

Lucy loves going "up, up, up."

And she loves getting tickles from her papa.

Despite some recent tantrums, she is such a joyful little girl.

Ellie and Elliot
And we see more of Elliot's personality by the day.  He's actually sick this morning and lying listlessly on the couch beside me with a fever.  But generally, he is so happy and excitable, and he and Lucy seem to really enjoy each other.

That evening I finally snapped my "reflection" image for a creativity challenge.

I hope you had a great fourth of July!
