Lucy's new favorite ritual is having anybody nearby sing "Happy Birthday" and then blowing out candles when they finish. She loves it.
We lit and re-lit this candle about 10 times, singing "Happy Birthday" to Daniel each time. When her next birthday comes, she'll be ready.

That evening we ventured out with Daniel's parents to Arbor Hills Nature Preserve to check out the lighting situation b/c I had a session scheduled there for the next night. It was perfect weather, which was probably why it was crawling with people. But still it was nice to walk around a little before dinner...

...which was at a local pizza place we like. The service is ridiculously poor, but the food is good, and we had a nice time sitting outside watching the DART train zoom by every 10 minutes or so. Nonnie was integral to transforming said zooming from a frightening, wide-eyed experience to a fun, "noisy, NOISY!!" thing to look forward to.
Happy birthday, Daniel!!! So thankful for you.
Aw, how sweet. I love that they were able to re-learn a frightening experience into a "noisy NOISY!!" fun experience! So cool to be able to do that.
