Where Have I Been?

Have you been wondering lately what happened to me?  I used to update the blog every 3 or 4 days.  But lately it's been more like every week or two.  What happened?

I started a photography website.  With its own blog.  The upkeep of that site, as well as daily reading about all things photography have somehow sneaked into the time slot I used to spend updating the blog!  This is a problem, because I liked blogging more frequently.  So I think I need to do some prioritizing.

Because I love reading back through these blog posts.  And I like having a space to document what's going on with us.  And I enjoy my quiet little corner of the web, where I can share random thoughts on this and that.

And speaking of random, I came across this in the living room the other day.  Lucy made a tower of hand sanitizers.  She loves towers.  Actually she loves "windows" now -- which are spaces in the tower, through which she peers and proclaims, "I SEE you!!  I SEE you!"  (even if there's nobody looking through the other side of the window, she still proclaims this).

I've lead worship a couple times at my weekly Bible study recently.  It reminds me of how sweet it was when I lead worship at our church in Galveston.  Ray was a ridiculously talented professional drummer, and Jesse (now his wife) was his bass-playing fiance.  Naomi was the violinist.  And we had Katie on guitar.  It was SUCH a treat being able to play with those four people every week.  Having a professional drummer behind you--I'm convinced--could make any pianist feel like a rock star.  Anyways, it's just me on the piano at my Bible study.  And it's sweet to be able to do it.  But it makes me miss Ray and Jesse and Naomi and Katie.

Lucy's started saying, "much, MUCH better" after we fix the volume on her show or give her kisses on her boo-boos or cut up her food just the way she likes.  It's hilarious.

And Elliot has become mildly obsessed with the cd player in Lucy's room.  He loves taking the cd out and putting it back in.  Not sure I could have done that at his age.  Maybe he has Daniel's brilliant genes.

Elliot has also begun full-out temper tantrums complete with lying face-down on the floor and kicking his feet on the ground.  It is so pathetic and cute.  I don't think Lucy ever did that.  She just knelt down, banged her head on the floor, and then cried for kisses.

I'm hosting a baby shower this weekend for a second baby.  The first was a boy, and this one's a girl.  The mom feels weird about inviting too many people, because it's a second shower.  And I sort of get that.  Sort of.  But not really.  Maybe because I was the fifth born in my family--but I so strongly believe that every baby should be celebrated--not just the first.  A shower is not primarily a time to "get stuff" from people.  It's a time to celebrate a brand new life and brand new relationships that are about to form.  It's a tiny life that God is already acquainted with.  I'm looking forward to the shower.  I wish the mom didn't have any reservations about it.
