Two Months Old (Oliver's Monthly Photo)

Oliver turned 2 months old while we were in Colorado, so this post comes a little late.  I actually photographed him the week before we left (a week before he turned 2 months), but I forgot the elephant.

So I did it again today (a week after he turned 2 months), and it's amazing the difference even 2 weeks makes!  Each of these pairs of photos were taken 2 weeks apart.

Can you believe how handsome he is?

He is definitely a social smiler now.  We love trying to make him laugh during the day between his naps.

He continues to be the easiest baby I've ever seen.  He certainly will scream and cry if something's wrong (mostly for diaper changes, when he's really tired, or when he's really hungry), but mostly he's content to just sit or lie in the same room with people.  I think he likes hearing our voices.

He's adorable.  So sweet.

Lucy and Elliot both adore him.  They love giving him kisses on the top of his head.

Last week in Colorado we were driving home from a picnic dinner.  It had been particularly sandy/rocky, and both "big kids" had enjoyed playing in the dirt before and after eating.  I assured myself I would give them a bath as soon as we got back to the cabin.  Oliver was fussing in his car seat, and Lucy was asking me to calm him.  I explained that I couldn't right then, but that he would calm down eventually.  After a few minutes, there was a pause in Daniel's and my conversation, and I realized Oliver had quieted down.  At the same moment, Lucy chimed in from the backseat:

Oliver likes my fum.

(Cringe) Mmmhmmmm.  Wow, Lucy--you calmed Oliver down...!  I can see he likes sucking on your thumb, but that's something you need permission to do.

She was pretty faithful about asking for permission after that point.  And as long as I had some hand sanitizer handy in the car, it was actually really helpful!  I love seeing her assert herself as his big sister.  She adores him.

Elliot is learning how to be gentle.  I love how he says Oliver's name (Aw-wah).

Where's your brother, Elliot?

Dah!  (there, said while pointing)

Oliver, you are a joy to care for.  You love looking into my eyes while I feed you, and you love when your daddy pats your back until you fall asleep.   We love you.
