Things That Make Her Laugh

I love how much Lucy loves her daddy.  I thought she said "dah-ee" the other day.  Maybe she did.  I couldn't get her to say it again, but it was right after he came around the corner and she saw him.

Here is Lucy's favorite joke:  she gets down on her hands and knees and lowers her head to just above our toes (so it looks like she's going to bite them).  Then we laugh and laugh, and she pops her head back up to share in the joke.  She doesn't actually seem to have any interest in biting our toes.  It seems to be a little game she made up.  It's pretty cute.

She also thinks that feeding us her food is wonderfully entertaining.  It's pretty gross, eating food out of her fist after she's mashed it all up in her fingers.  But she gets such a kick out of it that I can only resist some of the time.

When she starts getting fussy in the car, I put my hand back there, right over her head.  And I say, "ahhhhhhhhhhh---BOO!" And I touch her head right when I say, "BOO," and she thinks that's hilarious.

I've talked to a lot of moms about this, and I think they're right.  As sad as it is to see Lucy growing out of "baby-hood," it sure is fun getting to know her little personality more and more.  Babies are all so different in what they find amusing.  These things I write about today... they are shaping our understanding of what makes Lucy tick... what makes her her.  And in that sense, I feel at peace with her growing up, little by little, day by day.  But I'm glad she's still just 11 months old.  Today she is still a baby.  One. Day. At a Time.
