I waded in the creek to get photos of the kids. I had Oliver in one arm and the camera in the other. I lost my balance, and we all went splashing into the water. Oliver was NOT happy. I managed not to ruin the camera. There was a 3.5 foot snake skin in the water by my feet. Thank the good Lord we never met the snake it belonged to.
Lucy was pleading to go home. I bribed her with a lollipop to let me take a picture of her.

Oliver screamed from the time we slipped in the creek until we were back in the car. Getting back to the car involved hiking back up the 45 degree incline, this time with slippery feet in flip flops. My flip flops broke. I threw them away and trekked the rest of the way barefoot.

All this for a couple of photos and some bonding with other mom-tographers. They're not the best photos I've ever taken. But no way did we go through all of that without a photo to show for it.
Oh how miserable! But of course the most miserable experiences do make for the most hilarious stories. SO grateful about the lack of live snakes. And un-ruined camera.
