Twenty-one Months (Elliot's Monthly Photo)

Elliot has become all about the word, "nine" (meaning mine) this month!  He points to random things (toys, cups, food) and says, "nine?"  And if you say yes (or no, actually), he responds with, "Oh."  But if you respond with a yes, he'll smile as he says it.

He also says "nine" when counting.  Example:

Lucy, you can play with that toy for 10 more seconds, and then you'll need to give Elliot a turn.

(Elliot): "Nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, NINE!"

He also says "nine" for one.  As in...

Elliot, how old are you?

"Nine!" (holding up one finger)

Other interesting new words he's saying include umm (meaning "done").  Example:

Elliot, are you all done?

"Umm!"

Okay, you can get down.

He still signs thank you at the end of meals, but every once in a while he'll now hum the little tune of "thank you" to excuse himself from the table.

His food choices are funny.  He's still mostly a meat, cheese, and carbs kid.  But If I don't put any carbs out on the table with dinner, he'll try some of the other things on his plate.  It's hard not to try to control what he eats, but I have faith that eventually he'll eat a variety of foods.  And if he doesn't, I guess that's okay, too.

"Awww-wer" is how he says Oliver, and it's so cute :).  He loves to point to him and say his name.

He is super clingy to mommy/daddy (still).  But thankfully it's easier for me to leave him (than it was with Lucy), and I think it helps him for me to say goodbye purposefully, not wondering if I should just stay.  He doesn't stay upset long when I leave.

But he does ask about "Dadda" all day when he's at work or out of town (well, at least once/day when he's out of town).  And he continues to chime in, "Baba!" (Papa) while we're praying.  He continues saying it until we acknowledge that we're also thankful for Papa.  Then Lucy chimes in, "and Nonnie! and Mimi!" and before you know it, we've covered all the grandparents.

Elliot's been teething like crazy.  Poor kid.  He's miserable off and on.

Elliot, we love you :).  You are turning into a very considerate big brother, and Lucy loves playing with you during the day.  Y'all are SO cute playing little pretend games together.  We're so grateful to be your parents.
