Ginnie brought to my attention that several of her pictures of Jack from when he was a baby don't even look like "Jack" to her, because she always saw him from such a completely different angle.

On her advice, I decided to try for a couple pictures of him from my vantage point. And these are my two favorites. This is exactly what I see when I look down at him. He's a handsome little fellow.

Life in the Pruessner household has been good. Our house is put back together. The backyard is a mess of mud, but the house itself is in good shape. We are getting back into our routine, having family dinners at night and frequent discussions on parenting and what's best for Lucy and what's best for Jack, etc.

Elliot is up to a 6-hour stretch at night (10pm-4am), so Daniel and I have been more coherent during the day and generally less miserable at night. The crib-loft in the closet-nursery has been working out beautifully - I highly recommend it. I love having Elliot so close, and with the heater on the wall, it's like a womb in there.

Lucy's meltdowns have been on the rise lately. I attribute this to her growing suspicion that Elliot's not going anywhere, and her life as an only child is over.

We've been doing lots of play-dates lately. Besides being on the receiving end of a biting incident, they've been largely successful and fun.

My sweet friend Casey and her son Lucus came over today, and it was so nice to see both of them.

I love this one of Lucy. She was loving the swing. For like 5 minutes. And then she was done.
I'd love a play date soon :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat! Let me know when you're available, and we'll set it up!
DeleteYay, weekends are best for us
DeleteA biting incident? What happened??? So glad to hear things are starting to get back to normal. And that you're getting SLEEP!
ReplyDeleteWell, yes - another little kid Lucy's age bit her the other day at a playdate. It didn't leave a mark or anything - just scared her (and me) a bit.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous pics of that sweet boy! Abby's meltdowns were definitely worse around 18 months (as we're Jonathan's, actually) than right at 2 yrs. Thats when I learned the theory that the half-years are more tumultuous developmentally than the months around their birthdays. No idea if there's universal truth to it -- but seems consistent with my kids!
ReplyDeleteAhh yes - I remember your saying that. Seems true for mine :)
