We went to the zoo last Thursday -- Lucy's very first time. It was... memorable...

The whole trip was kind of like this:
Lucy!! Look at the giraffes! They're so close we can TOUCH them! Do you see the giraffes??
BALL!!! Ball!! Ball!!! (pointing at the trademark round symbol for Pepsi on the soda machine)

Lucy!! Look at the wart hog! Do you see the wart hog?
Wawer--wawer--wawer--wawer--wawer--(pointing at a random hose on the ground with water coming out of it)

Lucy! Look at the big LION! What does a lion say? (at this point she was preoccupied with raiding other strollers/wagons for crackers, since I had only allowed her one for each hand).
....And then moments later:
ROCK! ROCK!! ROCK! (and she proceeded to pat it and then sit on it and then admire it some more).

So, I don't feel as bad that Daniel wasn't able to be there for her first trip to the zoo.
I think in about 6 months, it will be a totally different experience.

It was nice to spend some time with family, in from out of town. These statues were a big hit.

Jonathan and Abby change so much every time we see them.
Jennifer and I are taking a photography course on flash this month, so we enjoyed sharing notes on some of what we're learning.

And besides the two of us, I spotted another mom or two with Moby wraps. That's always fun/amusing.

The construction site was a huge attraction that all the kids liked. They could have sat and watched the construction site for quite a while, had it not been for lunch time.

All in all, it was a fun outing. But I'm looking forward to repeating it in a few months when Lucy can appreciate more of the animals.
Hahaha, that's hilarious. Sounds like a fun time :-)
ReplyDeleteHey, did you turn the spam gate back on? I'm having to do the numbers/ letters thing again to comment.
ReplyDeleteAhh, yes... the spam filter. I was getting about 1 spam per day and was getting annoyed with it, so I turned on the filter. Now that I have semi-privatized the blog, I'll try turning it back off and see how it goes.
