Work Day

Well... work morning, at least It is HOT outside.

Ginnie came over this morning so that she and Daniel could set to work on splitting and sizing firewood.

It seems like every few days there is a new tree, cut to pieces, on one of our neighbor's sidewalk.

So we take advantage of the free firewood. But sometimes the pieces are quite large.

So it was nice that Ginnie let us borrow the chain saw to cut ours down, and then Daniel went over to Ginnie's house to return the favor.

They made a good team.

And they got all the way through our wood stack and partially through Ginnie's.

I spent the time cutting back weeds in the miserably overgrown garden.

Remember how we started with 2 basil plants and a rosemary plant?  Good news--they are still alive

Today I added to the garden with a few tomato plants given to me by my friend Jenn.  I've never grown tomatoes before.

I hope they do okay.  Per my sister's recommendations, I mulched around the plants with the wood chips and saw dust created from splitting the logs.

Good idea, right?
