Merry Christmas! Did you have a nice Christmas? We did. We spent Christmas Eve with family. We open presents with my side of the family on Christmas Eve evening.
Even though we skipped church this year, I went ahead and dressed up the kids. How can you not - they are adorable in those little velvet outfits.

The food was wonderful. Carrie made Hindi food, and Ginnie made split pea soup, and there was smoked salmon and shrimp and fruit salad. So good.

Despite it being way past her bedtime, Lucy managed to hold it together fairly well. Until she was done.

We haven't spent Christmas Eve with some of my nephews (and niece) in years, so it was nice to get to see them that evening.

In fact, minus my sister Heidi and her husband, we were all there that night! That hasn't happened in years and years.

The next morning, we had a quiet morning in front of the fire...

... And enjoyed homemade cinnamon rolls! Yum.

Then we headed back over to my parents' house for stockings.

I love this photo. It's like Lucy is seeing Santa Clause for the first time, just off camera.

By far the most popular toy on Christmas morning were these electric remote-control helicopters.

I had never heard of these -- one helicopter can shoot the other with lasers, which temporarily disables that helicopter's engine, causing it to crash.

Papa has been recovering from surgery but was in good spirits and open-armed to the kids.

A family friend and her son were also able to join us on Christmas Day (above).

Wow, she is getting so big.
Yesterday was my birthday - Lucy's half birthday. It was a lovely day.

We are still very tired, up during the night with Elliot. But he seems to be doing better and better - and that is reassuring.

And Lucy's doing great, learning more by the day.

And I'm exhausted. Did I say that already? It's still true. But I hope you had a Merry Christmas and that you are enjoying full nights of sleep. And Merry Christmas.
