Getting Acquainted

I finally feel like we have Elliot back.  I think we were just getting to know him when he had the frenotomy procedure, and then he was really fussy for a couple weeks.

Just as the fussiness from that procedure was wearing off, we realized it had been at least 8 days since Elliot's last poop... and he was beginning to look pretty uncomfortable as he produced what we affectionately called, "toxic toots."

While I try to stay calm about these things--breastfed babies don't get constipated, I was always taught--even I was beginning to get a little nervous about this.

But, no fear.  All was righted yesterday - twice.  And again today.

So he is finally more comfortable and calm, which means we have been able to spend some time just cooing over him and enjoying his sweet baby cuteness.

"Lucy--where's your baby brother?"

Lucy is still pretty distressed when Elliot cries (especially in the car), but I can tell she's warming up to him.  She signs baby a lot when he's not in sight--just checking on him.  Isn't this picture funny (above)?  She had just woken up from her nap and was seriously displeased about it.

She perked up in no time, though.

We have one more little in-office procedure to cross off the list for Elliot next week, and I'm a little nervous about it, given all that he's been through already.  Here's hoping for a quick recovery.

  2. Thanks, Heidi :). No idea... maybe the distress caused by the frenotomy/pain? I know that affects adults' and kids' GI tracts... but I'm not sure.
